米国臨床留学：田舎のERから

シニアレジデントは年間に講義を幾つかしないといけません。この前最後の講義を終えました。あーよかった。（実は別の題でやるはずだったのに、直前で変更を促されたりしてすったもんだがあったもので。）

数日後なんとなく郵便箱を空けたらプログラムディレクターからの手紙が来ていました。

Dear T：
Today's Grand Rounds on "International Emergency Medicine" was brilliantly conceived and poignantly delivered.  I was so moved by your thoughtful remarks on the issue.  Thank you for showing us examples, good and bad.  The example of the Japanese physician on the Pakistan/Afghanistan border is memorable and inspiring....

Of training young physicians, William J. Mayo said, "they give me of their dreams and I give them of my experience, and I get the better of the exchange."  Without question, he was right.  The privilege to play a small part in your training has been mine.  Thank you for your training with us and for giving so much of yourself to the institution, the residency, your colleagues, and most of all to our patients.  I look forward to years of friendship and collegiality, and will so enjoy watching your career develop over the years.
